"The Vampire Diaries" season 6 is sure to be filled with shocking twists and turns, and new spoilers from the sets of the vampire series hints at a romance brewing between Damon and Bonnie, played by Ian Somerhalder and Kat Graham respectively.

The cast of "The Vampire Diaries" is believed to have just finished shooting the promotional photos for the upcoming season, and it hints at a connection between Damon and Bonnie. While the previous promotional shoots revolved around Elena and the Salvatore brothers, the latest one features Bonnie with Damon, reported Christian Post.

Executive producer Julie Plec recently told TV Guide that viewers will get to know where the duo is at the end of episode 2. Divulging more about the plot, she revealed "although the setting may look familiar, the duo is definitely in a place that's foreign to them," and this admission has sparked a number of fan theories.

While Wetpaint speculates the possibility of time travel, the US edition of International Business Times has its bets on Bonnie and Damon losing their memories. Fans believe that Damon and Bonnie will return as humans in the upcoming season, resulting in them not being aware of their past in Mystic Falls. This might even bring the two together romantically, the report speculates.

Meanwhile, Plec told E!Online that viewers will be happy with the upcoming storyline.

"You'll see enough of them to make you happy and more as it goes along. They are by no means going to be off the air for six episodes," Plec assured. "The mystery is where are they, what happened, are they dead, not dead, and what the hell are they going to do together, those two of all people?"

Elena and Stefan (Nina Dobrev and Paul Wesley) will be dealing with the loss of their beloved ones in unconventional ways, Plec teased.

"It's surprising, only in that it's not instantly what you'd expect," Plec said about Elena and Stefan. "They're both grieving, but they're both coping with their grief in very specific and not necessarily conventional ways." And Plec noted that Stefan "particularly is surprising."

It remains to be seen if their grief will bring them together romantically.
