Valentine's day is just a day away and people around the world have been planning to celebrate the day in a special manner.

Many couples in Manila made the Valentine's day week special by exchanging vows during the mass wedding ceremony on Thursday, 11 February, in the Cavite province in the Philippines.

As part of early Valentine's Day celebrations, almost 700 couples tied the knot during a mass wedding, and Mayor Jose Nonong Ricafrente Jr performed the official ceremony.

The special wedding event was organised by a government agency.

The oldest couple was Prisca O. Parsacala, 53, and Carlito A. Magallanes, 49, while the youngest was Russel I Hernandez, 23, Joeylyn C. Cambe, 18, according to Manila Bulletin.

The local government provides the wedding venue, food, gifts, photographs, other facilities and marriage license for the needy and unwed residents.

Meanwhile, public weddings will take place in the cities of Dasmariñas, Tagaytay and Silang municipality on Valentine's Day.
