US box office collection: Ekkadiki Pothavu Chinnavada fares better than Bethaludu, Saithan

Ekkadiki Pothavu Chinnavada continued to rock the US box office in its third week. The movie has topped the US collection chart in its third weekend, beating new releases Bethaludu and Saithan.

Ekkadiki Pothavu Chinnavada collected $531,829 in the first week and $137,018 in the second week at the US box office. Trade experts predicted that new Indian releases Bethaludu, Saithan and Kahaani 2, which were released in around 200 screens together in the country, would halt its collection in its third week.

The Nikhil Siddharth, Hebah Patel and Nandita Swetha-starrer had a steep decline in its numbers on its third Friday, when compared to its second Friday collection. Ekkadiki Pothavu Chinnavada showed decent jump on Saturday and it further slipped down on Sunday. When compared to its second weekend, the movie witnessed over 70 percent drop in its collection its third weekend.

Ekkadiki Pothavu Chinnavada has collected $32,561 from 26 screens at the US box office in its third weekend and its 17-day US total collection has reached $701,408 (Rs 4.78 crore). Its per-screen average is $1252. However, the film was expected to cross $1 million mark in the country, but as per its current trends, it will not be able to achieve this rare feat.

Taran Adarsh posted the day-wise collection of Ekkadiki Pothavu Chinnavada on his Twitter handle. The Indian film trade analyst tweeted: "Telugu film #EkkadikiPothavuChinnavada - USA - Week 3: Fri $ 8,318, Sat $ 15,868, Sun $ 8,375. Total: $ 701,408 [₹ 4.78 cr]. SUPER! @Rentrak."

Vijay Antony's most-talked about Tamil movie, which was released in around 60 screens in the US, was expected to rock the ticket counters in the country, but it opened to poor response and could not show big growth. Saithan has collected $26,150 (Rs 17.85 lakh) at the US box office in the first weekend and its per-screen average is $443.

Saithan was also dubbed in Telugu and released as Bethaludu in over 50 screens in the US. The Telugu version has also received an average response at the ticket country in country. Bethaludu has collected $22,257 (Rs 15.2 lakh) at the US box office in the first weekend and its per-screen average is $436.
