Oppo Electronics Corp on Friday (16 January) announced that the ultra-slim R5 smartphone has been made available at retail stores across India. Oppo R5 price details were announced in India back in December and later the online pre-order service went live on 1 January.
Now, the flagship smartphone has finally hit the local brick-and-mortar store shelves.
Oppo R5's USP is its super-thin body measuring just 4.85 mm thick. It held the world record for being the slimmest phone briefly for a few weeks. But later in December 2014, it got beaten by Vivo X5 Max, which measures 4.75 mm.

Under its slim casing, it houses new generation 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 series Octa-core processor, 2GB RAM, 16GB inbuilt memory, 13.0-megapixel main camera, 5.0-megapixel snapper on the front and a 2000 mAh battery.

Oppo R5 will be up against the Vivo X5 Max, Gionee Elife S5.1, HTC Desire 820Q, Desire 816, Motorola Moto X (Gen 2), Galaxy S5, HTC One M8, Galaxy Note 3, HTC One E8 and others.
