Amid all rumours, it has also surfaced that Jose Mourinho will put Schweintsteiger up for sale in the ongoing summer transfer window soon. But that does not make him anything less than a legend in the world of football. Fans across the globe love him as a player and have reacted immediately after the Manchester United midfielder announced his retirement from international football.

The German midfielder, who turns 32 on Aug. 1, holds some unique records, which makes him special.

Schweintsteiger made his debut for Bayern Munich as an 18-year-old left-back. He created a goal in the UEFA Champions League in just ten minutes after coming off the bench in 2002. 

In his 13 years at Bayern Munich, he has won eight Bundesliga titles, seven German Cups and the coveted Champions League. He also won the World Cup with the German National team in 2014.
