Gujarat, Oct 29 (ANI): As cyclone Nilofar is expected to hit Gujarat coast in a couple of days, authorities have intensified relief and rescue arrangements as precautionary measures to handle the cyclonic storm. Nilofar, classified as a 'very severe cyclonic storm', is expected to weaken to a 'cyclonic storm'when it makes landfall on the Gujarat coast, according to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD). Chief Minister of Gujarat, Anandiben Patel, said bad weather and heavy rainfall has been predicted for coastal regions on October 30-31. On Monday Gujarat weather office issued a high alert on the cyclone and said the storm has intensified turning into severe one. In the wake of the situation, Commander of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Rakesh Kumar Joon, said 60 NDRF teams have been deployed in the regions which are at high alert. The District Magistrate (Collector) of Gir Somnath district, CP Patel, has requested the tourists to return home while the fishermen have been called back from sea.
