Quetta/ Geneva, Sep 08: The largest and resource-rich province of Pakistan, Balochistan, celebrate August 11 as its `Independence Day' and blames Pakistan for its illegal occupation since 1948. Facing poverty, unemployment, illiteracy and inequity, the people in Balochistan feel a deep sense of insecurity and disgruntlement against the Pakistan regime. Human rights violations have reached `epidemic proportions' in the region. On August 11, 2014, Baloch nationalist leaders issued a written declaration demanding Balochistan's independence. The declaration forwarded to the concerned authorities says that Pakistani armed forces have launched a campaign of ethnic cleansing and genocide in Balochistan, and are systematically kidnapping, imprisoning and murdering Baloch political activists, students, lawyers, intellectuals and nationalist leaders.
