Two gunmen opened fire at the US Consulate in Istanbul in Turkey on Monday.

The gunfire was reported after a bomb attack at a police station in Istanbul early on Monday, which left at least five officers injured. The Dogan news agency has reported that at least three people were killed in the blast.

It is not clear if the two incidents are connected.

According to the Daily Sabah, one of the suspects in the firing outside the US Consulate is a woman. She has been neutralised by the police, as per the report.

Al Jazeera also reported that one of the police officers investigating the scene of the bomb blast at a police station has been shot at.

No US consulate staff members have been injured in Monday's firing, Turkish media reported.

Turkey has been struck by deadly terror attacks in recent weeks. An Isis bombing in Suruc last month killed 32 people.
