Trisha Krishnan, who has acted in several Telugu, Tamil and Hindi films, is all set to make her debut in the Kannada film industry with the remake of "Dookudu."  Buzz is that she will romance Power Star Puneet Rajkumar in the film.

Director K Madesha has planned a remake of superstar Mahesh Babu's blockbuster Telugu film. Having scored a huge success with Shivarajkumar, the director has now roped in his brother Puneet Rajkumar for this Sandalwood remake. He approached Trisha Krishnan for the lead role in the film and the actress has given her consent for it.

Producer Pummy has bought the remake rights of "Dookudu" and is now producing its Kannada version. He is yet finalise a title for this remake, but has confirmed the news about casting Trisha for the movie.

"We are happy to announce that Trisha has expressed her interest to work in the film. She will join the team of the film in Bellary on December 16, the day we start our shoot," The Times of India quoted the producer.

It is also being said that the actress is being paid ₹1 crore for the film. Trisha's manager Giridhar too confirmed the news about her role in "Dookudu" remake. When quizzed about her casting, her manager told TOI, "Yes, she is doing a film in Kannada opposite Puneet."

Written By Gopi Mohan and directed by Sreenu Vaitla, "Dookudu" is revenge drama that revolves around the story of a young cop, Superstar Mahesh Babu has played the role of the police official in the Telegu version of the film, while Prakash Raj appeared as his father. Samantha had essayed the role of his love interest.
