Shimla, Nov 07 (ANI): Villagers in Himachal Pradesh organised a fair to promote traditional archery sport, 'Thoda'. The fair, which was held at Raggyan village, over 20 kilometres from Shimla city, aimed at preserving the traditional sport. Many young archers were seen playing the sport during the fair and urged more and more youth to preserve this heritage. On the beats of traditional drums, people aim at each other with bow and arrow on legs. A traditional dance is also performed during the fair. Villagers believe that this sport was played for the deities. The elders are now training young people for this sport to preserve and promote it for ages to come. This fair is a blend of religious belief and love for century-old 'Thoda' sport. Locals believe that organising such kind of fairs is a symbol of prosperity.
