The long wait for Toyota's much-awaited new Innova Crysta MPV is finally coming to an end. The Innova Crysta, the new avatar of the popular Innova, will be launched in the Indian market in the first week of May.

While some of the dealers of the company have already started accepting bookings for the new Innova Crysta, the company is expected to announce the bookings officially on the same day of the launch.

The Innova Crysta, the second generation of Toyota's much acclaimed MPV Innova, boasts a lot of impressive changes both inside and outside. The MPV, which has retained the overall look of its predecessor, has got a new front fascia with hexagonal grille with chrome touch. It runs on 17 inch alloys and flashes new projector head lamps with LED. It features triangular third row window and new tail lamps.

Coming to the cabin of the new Toyota Innova Crysta, the inside of the MPV looks premium with neatly styled dashboard and cabin, 4.2-inch TFT multi-information screen display, push start/stop button, cruise control and 7-inch touchscreen system. Adding to the feature list are also steering mounted audio controls and leather upholstery. Toyota has also made the second row of the new Innova Crysta quite impressive with enough leg room and front seatback tray.

Coming to the powertrain of the new MPV, at the heart of the Innova Crysta are the 2.4-litre and the 2.8-litre diesel engines. While the 2,393cc diesel engine will develop 148bhp of power and 243Nm of torque, the 2,755cc mill will churn out 172bhp and 360Nm of torque. The transmission will be taken care of by a six-speed automatic and a five-speed manual gearbox.

The company has also equipped the new offering with safety features such as airbags and ABS, with EBD. The top-of-the-line Innova Crysta will get seven airbags (driver, front passenger, driver knee, front side and curtain airbags) and all other variants will get three airbags and ABS as standard.

In terms of dimensions, the MPV measures 4,735mm in length, 1,830mm in width, 1,795mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,750mm. It has a ground clearance of 167mm.

The Innova Crysta will be offered in five trims -- 2.4 GX MT, 2.8 GX AT, 2.4 VX MT, 2.4 ZX MT, 2.8 ZX AT — across three variants and will be available in six body shades of Attitude Black, Dark Gray Mica Metallic, Alumina Jade, Silver Metallic, Avant Grade Bronze and Super White.

It is expected to be priced in the range of Rs. 14 lakh to Rs. 20 lakh (ex-showroom).
