Toyota is expected to launch the petrol avatar of the Innova Crysta in India on Aug. 8. The bookings for the petrol-powered Innova Crysta are open in the country and the latest interesting tidbit is that the yet-to-be-launched variant of the MPV already has a waiting period even before its launch.

The Innova Crysta is currently sold in India with diesel engine options and the increasing demand for the petrol model has prompted Toyota to launch the petrol model of the MPV. The diesel –powered Innova Crysta has been earning tremendous response since its entry into the market in May and it looks like with the petrol model, the widely accepted mode is going to be even more popular.

The emerging reports suggest that the yet-to-be-launched petrol-powered Innova Crysta commands a waiting period of two months in the country already and it is likely to go up after the launch. The diesel version of the MPV, which is already on sale also, has a waiting period of over two months. Toyota has sold 7,800 units of the Innova Crysta in July 2016 and it has garnered over 30,000 bookings for the diesel Innova Crysta.

In the petrol-variant, the Innova Crysta will come powered by an in-line 4-cyl 2.7-litre unit that can churn out 164bhp at 5,200 rpm and 250Nm of torque at 4,000rpm. The transmission in the Innova Crysta petrol is expected to be taken care of by a five-speed manual and six-speed automatic gearbox. Currently, the Innova Crysta currently is sold with 2.4-litre and 2.8-litre diesel engines and comes in three trims — G, V and Z.

The Innova Crysta petrol is expected to be priced at about Rs. 60,000 lower than the current diesel models. The MPV is priced starting at Rs. 13.83 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai).
