The sale of utility vehicles have witnessed record breaking figures this year primarily due to new launches. Hyundai Creta launched in 2015 and the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza launched in March this year have gained a lot demand and sales of these vehicles are in top gear. Toyota Kirloskar Motor(TKM) launched the updated Innova as Innova Crysta in May and the MPV has become a best seller in the UV segment in its first month itself.
According to best selling passenger vehicles list compiled by ET Auto, TKM has sold 7,259 units of the Innova Crysta in May. The new version of the MPV also increased the sales by 44 percent compared the same month last year. TKM sold only 5,028 units of the last gen Innova in May 2015 and the numbers were falling every month. The Innova Crysta is the ninth best selling passenger vehicle in the list, which is dominated by passenger cars.
Keeping the Innova Crsyta on toes is the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. The compact SUV of India's largest car maker has found 7,193 takers and is the 10th best selling passenger vehicle in May. Hyundai India sold 7,057 units of Creta in May.
Toyota Innova Crysta currently over 20,000 bookings in India. The Vitara Brezza now has 70,000 bookings and waiting period of up to nine months, while Hyundai registered over 1 lakh bookings by the end of March.
