So, here we are then, one day away from the debut of Jurgen Klopp as Liverpool manager, and what a debut it will be too, as the Reds travel to White Hart Lane to play Tottenham in the English Premier League.

There cannot be a better opening act to mark the return of Premier League action than this Tottenham vs Liverpool match, and knowing Klopp and his teams' penchant to play exciting football, expect this game to be one of those matches that everyone talks about, even at the end of the season.

What Klopp and Liverpool will hope is the result goes in their favour, because nothing gives a team under a new manager a bigger fillip than a convincing performance in the first game.

The signs have been great, with Klopp being Klopp, talking about the extra 1% and winning the ball back and pressing and more in a bid to wake Liverpool up from their slumber.

"We had three very good training sessions -- the boys are really willing to listen, to understand what we want," Klopp said during his first pre-match press conference as a Liverpool manager. "It's not a time to change many things, it's only [time] to turn the screws a little bit in the right way and that's what we tried to do.

"Most of the time [this week] I was in work with all the staff of LFC.

"Now we have to train as often and as long as possible and not think about expectations from outside. I don't read what's written so I'm completely free of expectations.

"My pressure, I make myself -- it's big enough. I don't need anybody to tell me I have to be successful, I know it."

Trying to play party poopers to the Klopp coronation will be Mauricio Pochettino and his in-form Spurs team. Tottenham picked up one of the more impressive wins of the season so far, when they beat Manchester City 4-1 at White Hart Lane late last month, and if they can turn on the style against the league leaders, there is no stopping them from doing so again against Liverpool.

Klopp will be aware of that, but you feel that new-manager wave might just push Liverpool to victory.
