It appears like Maruti Suzuki has hit the bull's eye with the new Baleno, the premium hatchback, at least that is what the early reports suggest. Marit Suzuki's new Baleno, the Hyundai Elite i20 rival, has made a surprise entry into the top 10 best-selling passenger car list for the month of November.
ET Auto reports that the Baleno, the second car to be sold through Maruti Nexa premium dealers, has managed to grab the sixth position in the top 10 best-selling car list with 9,074 units. Baleno has also outnumbered the sales of its direct rival Elite i20 for the same month. Elite i20 with 8,264 units was the seventh best-selling model in November.
Launched at an introductory price range of Rs 4.99-8.11 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), Baleno has seen nearly 5,000 units sold within just six days of its launch. Maruti Baleno's engine line-up includes a 1.2-litre K-Series petrol and a 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine. While the petrol engine is tuned to develop 83bhp and 115Nm of torque, the diesel mill churns out 74bhp and 190Nm of torque.
Maruti Suzuki, the country's largest car maker topped the list this time as well with six models in the best-selling list. Maruti Alto hatchback notched the first slot with 21,995 units, followed by two of its siblings -- Dzire and WagonR -- with sales of 18,826 units and 13,986 units respectively. The sales of Maruti's popular Swift hatchback were down to 11,859 units in November 2015 from 17,900 units in the corresponding month last year. The Swift was also pushed down in the list to fifth in last month.
Hyundai's Grandi10 and Eon are also in the list of best-selling cars for November. While the Grand i10 managed to reach the fourth position with a sale of 12,899, the Eon retained its eighth position with 7,154 units of sales. Maruti Suzuki Celerio got the ninth position in the list with8956 units.
Honda City managed to make it to the list in November with sales of 6,342 units. City, the only model from Honda's portfolio got positioned at the 10th slot.
