In 2015, Tollywood churned out several trend-setting movies and the skills and talent of some Telugu actors, actresses, directors and musician impressed the audience as far as the national and international arenas.

In this year, Tollywood has produced over 160 films, including 24 movies dubbed from various languages. Very few of them have become big money spinners at the ticket counters across the globe. These films have created a platform for Telugu stars and technician to prove their metal.

"Baahubali - The Beginning" stands on top of all the movies, with its big list of records. It is not just a commercial success, but also critically acclaimed. "Rudramadevi", "Srimanthudu", "S/o Satyamurthy" and "Kanche" are some other attempts that have taken Tollywood to the international level.

Telugu actors like Prabhas, Mahesh Babu, Pawan Kalyan, Junior NTR, Allu Arjun, Nani, Rana Daggubati, Raj Tharun, Varun Tej and Akhil have been successful in impressing film-goers this year. Some of them have won hearts with their acting skills, while others did it with their dance or action or dialogue delivery.

Tollywood is known for its heroes, and not many actresses have the scope to showcase their acting. But some, Anushka Shetty, Tamannaah Bhatia, Lakshmi Manchu and Samantha, have got author-backed roles this year.

Many audiences outside Telugu states looked down upon Tollywood as an industry of masala entertainers and formulaic movies. But today, this perception has changed due to some creative efforts like "Baahubali", "Rudramadevi" and "Kanche", thanks to brilliant scripting and direction by the likes of SS Rajamouli and Gunasekhar.

Music director MM Keeravani has set new records with his tunes for "Baahubali: The Beginning". S Thaman has become the top musician of the year with five hits albums. Devi Sri Prasad has scored four big hit music albums. Anup Rubens has three hit albums to his credit, while Mickey J Meyer and Gopi Sunder scored two successes each.
