Salman Khan's latest film "Ek Tha Tiger" has been making headlines for its spectacular collections at the Bollywood box office besides shattering the previous collection records of other big stars. Now, we heard that Vijay is playing the lead role in the Tamil version of the film.

With the latest reports suggesting that the film has racked up Rs 1.05 billion in just one week the tinsel town is abuzz with the news about film makers down south are eyeing for the remake rights of the film in a bid to cash in on its popularity.

The buzz is that "Editor Mohan has supposedly purchased the Tamil remake rights and his son Jayam Raja might direct this one, given his expertise in handling remakes," reports The BehindWoods.Com.

It is also reported that Tamil actor Vijay is being considered for lead character played by Salman Khan in the Hindi version.

Raja-Vijay team has made a success film together in the past. Last year, Raja directed Vijay in "Velayudham", which was a box office hit.

However, wait before you jump into conclusion because neither the director nor the actor has confirmed the news.

Vijay is currently wrapping up the shooting for AR Murugadoss's 'Thuppaki' and he is next expected to work with director Gautham Menon.

Well, several hit Hindi movies were replicated by the Southern film makers after tweaking them a little to suit the taste of the local audiences and they worked at the box office in the past.

Meanwhile, Bollywood bigges has been eyeing hit films of South India, taking cue from some of their compatriots' remake success.

One cannot deny the fact that it was a Telugu blockbuster film, which ended the bearish pace of Salman's acting career. Post the success of "Wanted", the actor (Salman) indeed has become one of the most-wanted heroes in Bollywood, given the fact that his last four releases collected over Rs 1 billion.

"Wanted" is a remake of 2006 Telugu blockbuster "Pokiri", directed by Puri Jagannadh and starring Mahesh Babu in lead role.
