It's time to celebrate the beginning of another year and for some, perhaps a time to turn a new leaf. An annual highlight of every year is the New Year's Eve celebrations. There are some great cities you could visit to watch New Year fireworks, head out to your favourite restaurant for drinks and food, or you could just stay at home and invite all your friends for a house party. Yes, we admit that house parties are a lot more personal and to be honest, comfortable, but the morning of 1 January triggers an anxiety attack for the party host as they need to clean up the remnants of the night.
If you find yourself hosting a New Year's eve party on 31 December, 2015, here are a few tips that you could use to party-proof your house.
Use Door Mats
This one of the most cost effective ways to protect your home from being soiled. Place one door mat in front of your house and another at the immediate entrance. You could also place at it strategic points such as the entrance to your kitchen, bedroom and other places.
Invest in inexpensive cushion/sofa covers
It's a common sight to find guests collapse on your sofa after midnight. Chances are that you might find a wine strain or two on your furniture. If you don't want to wake up and see your lovely piece of furniture ruined, invest in some inexpensive sofa or cushion covers that are festive in some way.
Make sure you have enough tables spread across the house
If you don't want your guests to leave their wine glasses wherever it is convenient for them, make an effort to place tables. Your guests will most likely congregate around the table and this could most probably reduce the mental trauma of finding a half empty pint of beer standing next to your beloved family photo.
Walk your way through the party and inspect the damage
One of the most important tasks for a host is to mingle with all the guests. If you are the host, then use this opportunity to scan that portion of your house to see if anyone has spilt their drink or food. Try and keep your garbage under control. Use the help of a friend of family member to ensure that your dust bin isn't overflowing.
This is one of the most difficult tasks for a party host. However, if one is agile and alert to any mayhem that's about to take place, you could stop it. Furthermore, if you find a stain that's just soiled your sofa or carpet, you could clean it right away and reduce the extent of the damage.
Happy New Year 2016!
