Samsung Electronics' mobile payment service Samsung Pay is coming to Malaysia, Russia and Thailand, and more countries are in the line to join the fold by the end of this year. What is more interesting is Samsung's plan to enable people to buy things online with its digital wallet service.

The South Korean technology giant has announced that it has struck a deal with Mastercard to offer a simplified online payment and express checkout solution through its digital payment service Masterpass, which is currently accepted by thousands of merchants in 33 countries for online payments. This means Samsung Pay users will be able to use it to purchase items online.

Samsung Pay has online payment facility only in South Korea at the moment but the feature will be introduced in several countries early next year.

"When we introduced online payments in South Korea last year, the service was well received by the market. Online payments accounted for more than 25 percent of the 2 trillion won in processed transactions, demonstrating that consumers may be actively looking for solutions to make their online experiences faster, simpler and secure," said Thomas Ko, VP and Global GM, Samsung Pay, Mobile Communications Business at Samsung Electronics, in a statement.

Thomas went on to say that partnership with Masterpass will enhance online transaction experience by eliminating tedious tasks like filling online checkout forms, and password.

Collaboration with Mastercard will enable Samsung Pay to provide consumers with a seamless online payment experience, including express checkout, purchase items from any device (computer, tablet or smartphone) while shopping online, and secure transaction.

Samsung Pay will have a few features like support for in-app payments, and access to deals (discounts and coupons) at nearby stores and restaurants in the United States. These features will be introduced in November.
