The shooting of Ajith starrer "Thala 56" has finally begun. The first schedule took off in Chennai on Thursday, 07 May, where the hero's portions along with Lakshmi Menon's parts will be shot.

The untitled movie, which had its muhurat on 9 April, will start its opening schedule at Binny Mills. The art director has erected a set resembling Kolkata and Ajith and Lakshmi Menon's portions will be shot here.

Along with Ajith-Lakshmi Menon's portion, an action scene will also be shot in this schedule as per Stunt Silva.

The movie is likely to be wrapped up soon, as makers have set Diwali deadline for its release, which means the team only has six months to deliver the product.

"Thala 56", which is a temporary name for the film, is said to be a family entertainer. Lakshmi Menon plays the role of the actor's sister in the movie.

Confirming the news on her Facebook page, Lakshmi Menon wrote, "Hai everybody,I am really excited to write...I don't know what to say... It's one of my dream no ,I should say it would be anybody's dream to act with AJITH SIR: the THALA of Kollywood and TODAY the dream is getting true. I am egarly waiting for each moment's of my new project with him. And request your prayers and wishes for my new project."

"Thala 56" has Shruti Haasan in the female lead role. Santhanam will be doing a comedian's character in the Tamil movie, which is directed by Siruthai Siva and produced by AM Rathnam. It has Devi Sri Prasad's music.
