Noted Telugu news presenter Badri, who hogged the limelight through his stint as an anchor on TV9, was killed in a road accident on Sunday.
Badri was on his way to a family trip to Dwaraka Tirumala, when the accident took place. Reports suggest that he was driving the car, when the car hit a tree. He was reportedly pronounced dead on the spot. His wife and two children, who were travelling with him, have suffered minor injuries. They were rushed to the Eluru hospital and their condition is said to be out of danger, reports Gulte.
Born and brought up in Unguturu of West Godavari district, Badri was an engineering graduate. But his keen interest in media and his command over the language made him a core member of the news team. His interests vary from politics to sports, but he had a special interest in cinema. He was also handling prime-time bulletins.
With his style of anchoring and voice modulation, Badri had become one of the most popular news presenters in the state. His sudden demise has shocked many people in fields of journalism, sports, cinema and politics.
AP chief minister Chandrababu Naidu has offered condolences to his family while many others took to their Twitter page to mourn his death.
