The Telangana Joint Action Committee (JAC) leaders asked Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj on Saturday to assist in early formation of the proposed 29th Indian state.

"BJP has played its role in separate Telangana being realised. We requested her (Sushma Swaraj) that BJP show some initiative in implementation (of Congress' announcement) as well. She responded positively. She agreed that Telangana state should be formed as early as possible. She said she would help in this regard," JAC Chairman M Kodandaram told PTI.

The BJP, a constituent of the JAC, has been a in favour of a separate Telangana state. Swaraj had asserted that BJP will never take a U-turn on the bifurcation issue, while addressing a public meeting called 'Telangana Praja Garjana' in Mahbubnagar.

"We may tie up with anyone but our support to creation of new State is certain," Swaraj was quoted as saying by The Hindu.

TRS and pro-Telangana organisations of Andhra Pradesh government employees are also members of the JAC.

Sushma has announced December as the deadline for the UPA government to get the Bill passed during the Winter session in the Parliament.

"Development could be immediately kick-started in Telangana if the Bill for creation of the new state is passed in winter session.... Congress would be 'exposed' if it is not done," said Swaraj.

She also brushed aside the meeting of Telugu Desam Party chief N Chandrababu Naidu with her party president Rajnath Singh recently. She reiterated the promise she made during her visit in May this year, of creating Telangana within 100 days of coming back to power.
