Tata Motors has increased the price of Tiago four months after the hatchback's launch. Except the base variants (XB), the first hatchback bearing new IMPACT Design language of the company is now pricier by up to Rs 6,000.
The new prices will be applicable on the XE, XM, XT and XZ variants. The petrol variants are now priced from Rs 3.20 lakh to Rs 4.81 lakh, while the diesel variants will cost between Rs 3.94 lakh to Rs 5.60 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi.
The prices have been increased at a time when Tiago registered over 40,000 bookings. Buoyed by the response, Tata Motors is also planning to ramp up production of Tiago at its Sanand manufacturing unit in Gujarat. The waiting period for the hatchback currently stands at three to four months, depending on the city.
The hatchback has been clocking sizeable numbers and Tata Motors has been recording steady growth since its launch. Tata sold 5,114 units of Tiago in July. It also found 4,205 takers in June, making it the first model in Tata Motors' stable to exceed monthly sale of 4,000 units in the past two years.
Tiago is sold in 1.2-litre three-cylinder Revotron petrol and 1.05-litre three-cylinder Revotorq diesel. The petrol mill churns out 83.8bhp of power at 6,000rpm and 114Nm of torque at 3,500rpm, while the 1.05- diesel engine produces 69bhp of power at 4,000rpm and 140Nm of torque at 1,800-3,000rpm. Both the engines come mated to a five-speed manual gearbox.
