A lot has already been talked about Tata's upcoming compact sedan Kite 5, its features, specifications and launch. And what is probably left out is the pricing of Kite 5 in India. Now, if the emerging reports are anything to go by, Kite 5 will get a price tag starting around Rs 4 lakh and if this rings true, Kite 5 would become the most affordable compact sedan in the country.
According to Carblog, Kite 5, which is likely to be called Tata Sway, could be priced at around Rs 4 lakh and the sedan is likely to be launched in the country in early 2017. Although Kite 5 was earlier rumoured to come to the market in 2016, it was reported that the launch was delayed as Tata is re-looking at the strategy for Kite 5 so as to keep the price in check whilst maintaining quality.
Tata has been putting Kite 5 through rigorous testing on different terrains in the country since its appearance at the Auto Expo 2016. Kite 5, the sedan based on Tiago hatchback will enter the territory of Maruti Swift Dzire, Honda Amaze, Volkswagen Ameo and Ford Figo Aspire in India.
In terms of dimension, the compact sedan measures 3,995mm in length, 1,647mm in width and 1,535mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,450mm. The Kite 5 will come packed with a 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol and 1.05-litre three-cylinder diesel motors.
While the 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine will churn out 83.8bhp of power at 6,000rpm and 114Nm of torque at 3,500rpm, the all-new 1.05-litre, three-cylinder turbo-charged diesel engine will develop 69bhp of power and 140Nm of torque. Both engines will be available with multi-drive modes — Eco and City.
