Chennai, Dec 26 (ANI): To mark the tenth anniversary of 2004 Tsunami disaster, people in Tamil Nadu on Friday offered prayers for the victims. It was on this day in the year 2004 that the Tsunami devastated Nagapattinam district of Tamil Nadu claiming more than 6,600 lives. Fishermen in many coastal districts of the state will not be venturing out into the sea today to pay homage to the victims of tsunami. In Nagapattinam, people led by Fisheries Minister KA Jayapal will pay homage to those who lost their lives in the tsunami. In Kanniyakumari, people will pay homage by placing wreaths in tsunami memorial. Meanwhile, people arrived at a church to pay respect to the lost souls. The priest prayed for peace. People also congregated at a grave yard to offer flowers to the dead. Rehabilitation works by central and state governments along with several NGOs had helped to give counseling to the survivors.
