Suzuki launched the new Vitara SUV in the UK market in the beginning of the year. The year 2016 will see a new model, christened as the Vitara S, being added to its range. The new model is the first vehicle to be employed with the 'Boosterjet' family of turbocharged petrol engines.

The 1.4-litre, direct injection petrol in the S variant delivers 138bhp and 220Nm of torque at 1,500rpm to 4,000rpm mated to six-speed manual gearbox. A six-speed automatic transmission is also available optionally. The 1.4-litre engine powered the Vitara S to attain 0-100kmph speed 10.2 seconds before reaching the top speed 200kmph. Power is distributed to all four wheels via company's Allgrip AWD system, which offers four different driving modes -- Auto, Sport, Snow and Lock.

To differentiate from the other models, the S version received 17-inch gloss black alloy wheels, satin silver finish for ORVMs, LED headlamps with red projector covers, a rear spoiler and black side body moldings. The interior is spruced up with red interior stitching, red accents for air vents and aluminum alloy pedals.

The regular models sold in 1.6 petrol and diesel engine are doing good number of sales for the Suzuki in UK. The company reportedly sold over 5,000 units of the car in the British market.

The new Vitara is also set to debut in India. The unveiling is expected at the 2016 Auto Expo in February and launch subsequently. Whether the Boosterjet engine will be available in India will be answered only at the launch.
