Suzuki is yet to confirm the existence of the new trail bike project. However, Indonesian website Iwanbanaran has published a picture of the upcoming bike which is said to be part of patent images for official clearance.

The image indicates that the motorcycle will come with off-road-friendly features such as long travel suspension and dual-sport tyres.

The upcoming motorcycle will also get a high raised exhaust to offer more ground clearance. The bike is also expected to have disc brakes at both ends, LED lights, Suzuki Easy-Start system, keyless control and a digital instrumentation.

It will be powered by a 147cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled DOHC engine borrowed from GSX-R150 unveiled in November 2016. The mill develops 18.6bhp at 10,500rpm and 14Nm of torque at 9,000rpm in the GSX-R150. The output will be re-tuned for trail use.

The trail bike could be the spiritual successor to Suzuki TS 250R Savage sold in the 70s and the 80s in some global markets.

The launch of Suzuki trail bike is unlikely in India. However, considering the increase in interest for off-road bikes in India, Suzuki may bring the motorcycle on a later stage. Before that, the adventure bike segment of the country is expected to welcome Honda XRE 300.

XRE 300 will follow the footsteps of Hero Impulse in India as the affordable adventure bike. As Impulse has been discontinued, XRE 300 will be the most affordable dual-purpose bike in India. It will go up against Royal Enfield Himalayan, which is powered by a 411cc engine.
