Several reports suggesting that former Miss Universe Sushmita Sen is set to tie the knot with former Pakistani cricketer Wasim Akram surfaced online, but the actress denied stating it as "absolute rubbish".
Earlier reports alleged that the actress and the cricketer are set to tie the knot by this month end in Dubai. The news started doing the round after a website reported that Sushmita and Wasim are seeing each other for a couple of years.
The reports fumed both the actress and the cricketer who claimed that they are just good friends.
The 37-year-old actress took to Twitter and clarified the news that she is not getting married to Wasim Akram. She dismissed all the report by saying that "Wasim Akram is a friend and will always be one!"
"Hi guys! Been reading about my upcoming wedding with Wasim... Absolute Rubbish. Goes to show just how irresponsible media can be sometimes," Sushmita posted on her Twitter handle.
"Wasim Akram is a friend and will always be one!! He has a wonderful lady in his life... Rumours like these are uncalled for and disrespectful."
Sushmita, who is a single mother to two adopted daughters Renee and Alisah, also said that she will reveal it to the world once she find the right guy.
"My beautiful people..when I find 'THE ONE'..you'll be the first to know:)) benefits of being my twitter family!!;) love u all soooooo much!" she said.
The Pakistani cricketer too denied the reports and said that he is fed up with all these rumours and speculation. He said that he is planning to take a year off from the Indian Premiere League (IPL) and devote all the time to his two sons.
"I have decided to take a year off from the IPL and take care of my two sons who are growing up and need their father close to them. There is no plan in my life now to get married," he said, according to PTI.
"I want to devote my life to my sons. I think the media and people should not only respect my privacy but also that of Sushmita who is a very graceful and decent lady and a fine human being," he added.
This is not the first time the two have been linked together. In 2008, there were rumours of two dating each other when they were in the judging panel of Indian dance reality show "Aik Khilari, Aik Haseena" that featured cricket stars like Harbhajan Singh, Dinesh Karthik, Irfan Pathan, Shanthakumaran Sreesanth, Nikhil Chopra and Vinod Kambli.
