Kamal released the audio, composed by Aravind Shankar, and the album was received by Suriya. The film's trailer was released by Balachander.

"If I remember correctly, I introduced Sri Priya in 'Aval Oru Thodarkadhai.' Today I'm amazed to see her growth, her directorial skills and her courage. If it is 'Vishwaroopam' for Kamal Haasan, it is 'Malini 22 Palayamkottai' for Sri Priya. This is 'Chinna Vishwaroopam'. It needs something more than guts to handle such a delicate subject. I have a good feeling this film will go places. My wishes are always with you, Sri Priya," Behindwoods quoted Balachander, who spoke at the music launch event.

Kamal Haasan wished luck to the film's team. "Good Luck to Malini and Sri Priya. The Sri Priya I know has always been strong. People say KB sir discovered us. But he didn't. He invented us. When he blesses, there's no way you could fail. My wishes to you and your team!" he said.

"Malini 22 Palayamkottai" is Tamil remake of Malayalam film "22 Female Kottayam", starring Rima Kallingal and Fahadh Faasil. The Malayalam version, directed by Aashiq Abu, was not just critically acclaimed but also commercially successful. The Tamil remake will have Nithya Menen of "Nootrenbadhu" and "Veppam" fame reprising the role elegantly portrayed by Rima.

Produced by Rajkumar Sethupathy, "Malini 22 Palayamkottai" has Krish J. Sathaar, Kovai Sarala, Kota Srinivasa Rao, Mohan Raman and Vidyullekha Raman in supporting roles.

The film is expected to get release in December this year.
