Tamil actor Rajinikanth is celebrating his 62nd birthday Monday.

Media reports said that the actor would be celebrating the birthday in a simple manner and a pooja would be at his home which would be attended by family members and close friends.

He would spend some time with his fans. The fan clubs held special poojas for the actor who was admitted to different hospitals after a kidney ailment earlier in the year.

Rajinikanth has acted in over 150 films. Some of hits are: "Apoorva Raagangal"(1975), "Anthuleni Katha" (1976), "Moondru Mudichu" (1976),  "Mullum Malarum" (1978),  "Muthu" (1995) "Padayappa" (1999),  "Chandramukhi" (2005),  "Sivaji", (2007) and "Enthiran" (2010).

He was bestowed with the Padma Bhushan, India's third highest civilian honor, in 2000 for his contribution to Indian cinema.
