Salman Khan and Karan Johar to collaborate after 18 years with Varinder Chawla

After speculations of Karan Johar's dream project "Shuddhi" being scrapped, it seems like the movie will reportedly be made with Salman Khan in the lead. Earlier, it had been reported that the "Sultan" actor had walked out of the project and KJo had roped in Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt in it.

Now, Salman is back on board and Ronnie Screwvala will co-produce "Shuddhi" with Karan, according to SpotboyE. However, it is not clear if Karan Malhotra, who was supposed to direct the film earlier, will come on board.

If the reports of Salman signing "Shuddhi" are true, then the actor and KJo will be collaborating for a project after 18 years. The duo last worked together in "Kuch Kuch Hota Hai," in which Karan was the director and Salman had made special appearance.

"Shuddhi" was initially offered to Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor Khan to mark their comeback as a couple on-screen. But the pair walked out of the film and then, it went to Salman, who also eventually turned it down. Then, several speculations regarding the cast started doing the rounds and it was finally announced that Varun and Alia were roped in. After the cast was confirmed, some reports suggested that "Shuddhi" had been shelved.

It had been reported that the reason behind Salman walking out of "Shuddhi" was AIB Roast video, which went viral last year. The superstar didn't like the fact that KJo was a silent spectator when stand-up comedian Tanmay Bhatt made a nasty comment about one of his family members. Now, it seems Salman and the "Ae Dil Hai Mushkil" director have patched up.

Meanwhile, Salman is busy with Yash Raj Films' "Sultan," which also features Anushka Sharma. Salman will be seen playing the role of a wrestler in the film.
