Actor Unni Mukudan and Tovino Thomas' action thriller Malayalam movie "Style", released on 2 January, 2016, has opened to good reviews by critics and audience alike. The Binu S directorial has Master Ilhan, Priya Kandwal and Balu Varghese in pivotal roles.

Even though "Style", written by Dominic Arun and Anil Narayanan, is said to have a clichéd plot, critics have given it the thumbs up for being a director's movie with fast-paced storytelling.

While Unni is being lauded for his stylish appearance and good performance in the movie, Tovino is said to have stolen the show for his good screen presence. The stunt sequences in the film are been compared to the style of many big-budget action films in other languages. The movie is being tagged as a good watchable commercial entertainer.

Plot

The story of "Style" revolves around car mechanic Tom (Unni Mukundan), who falls in love with a girl (Priya Kandwal). Tom and his younger brother Jerry's (Master Ilhan) catfights also form a major part of the story. Tovino plays the role of Edgar, the antagonist of the film who meets Tom following an accident his favourite car was in.

Onlookers media

The main focus was on to the stylish performance of Unni Mukundan and Tovino Thomas and they had done their character to the maximum they can. While Unni Mukundan got applause for his stylish appearance and fight sequences, Tovino Thomas had stole show with his fabulous screen presence and cool attitude on screen.

DOP by Sinoj Ayyappan was super as his frames were very good like that he did in Ithihasa. Jassie Gift's songs were just average ones and the background scoring by Rahul Raj were mass even though at many parts it reminded us of various Tamil film's background music.

Binu S had narrated the story in the usual manner of an action entertainer and there is nothing extraordinary or never seen before stuff in the film. Style is altogether a decent mass entertainer for those who loves Tamil or Telugu like entertainers. It's an out and out Unni Mukundan show.

Filmdhamaka

The cinematography and stunt scenes in the movie reminded us of big budget Telugu flicks in which we have seen hero thrashing villains in air. The story is cliched, but Binu S overcomes this negative factor through fast paced story telling method.

Unni looks slim, and he showed all the signs of emerging as the next action hero in the industry. Tovino as always did full justice to his role. His screen presence is something unquestionable, and he deserve a special round of applause for his portrayal as Edgar in this movie.

Altogether, Style is one such movie which will satisfy the needs of commercial movie lovers. You can watch the movie without any hesitation, and chances of disappointment will be very less.

Mollywood Times

Style is a director's movie in which the screenwriter is nearly absent or an unwanted figure. The movie solely depends upon treatment style and manages to come out with a never seen before look in Mollywood. The Action and car sequences are racy and romantic scenes as glossy.

Unni Mukundan looks stunning and steals the show in action sequences. The actor evidently eyes a mass avatar and grabs it with a vengeance. Priya stays beautiful and does her duty of romancing Tom well. Tovino plays his character with negative shades well with a stylized performance. Vijayaraghavan and Baiju also perform well according to their respective character importance.

Style is a good mixture of all the commercial ingredients and an attempt to deliver a pulse racing thriller within the budget constraints Mollywood. Binu and Co. seems to have achieved the goal and Style is for those who want to open their year with a mass flick.

Cinemadaddy

The Mumbai based model girl Priyanka Kandwal's Diya has nothing more to be done other than to be a link that connects the villain and the hero. There was a good chemistry between Unni Mukundan and Priyanka but the director could consider any actress from Malayalam Film Industry for the role.

An action thriller with no suspense but two n' half hour's complete time pass Style is made with the bonds of many relationships like father to son, brother to brother, lovers, friends and more than that the blind relationship of the villain with his car etc. It has the power to be the prime hit of the year 2016.
