Days after Malayalam actor Sreejith Ravi was arrested for allegedly misbehaving with schoolgirls, actor-turned-filmmaker Vineeth Sreenivasan has come forward in support of the "Punyalan Agarbathis" actor.

Through a Facebook post, Vineeth has stated that Sreejith is a person who doesn't even use any abusive words, and goes on to call him a well-behaved person, who he thinks is innocent.

"From my experience working with Sreejith ettan, he is a very well behaved gentleman unlike the characters he has portrayed. He doesn't even use a single abusive word. I strongly believe he is innocent. Whoever has misbehaved with the kids should get severely punished.. Truth should come out [sic]," Vineeth posted on his Facebook page.

Meanwhile, a Facebook post of a friend of Sreejith, Cigi Manoj, has gone viral on social media.

"I heard about Sreejith for the first time during one the entrance classes. I felt disappointed for not being close to him even though I am a relative of him when a professor mentioned about an hardworking student who got admission at Suratkal National Institute of Technology. After I met him, I was surprised to know how such a decent person could act in villainous roles in movies. A person, who doesn't even uses bad words has now been arrested for allegedly misbehaving with school girls. That too, when he was near his own house. No, Sreeju, the people who know you cannot believe this. I am sure you will come back soon [roughly translated from Malayalam]," reads the Facebook post of Cigi, which had been shared by more than 500 social media users at the time of reporting.

One of the well behaved, educated, non-toxic guys I have seen in the industry.... I am sure Sreejith Ravi and his family will win over this situation soon.... Prayers.... [sic]," Malayalam scriptwriter Salil Sankaran posted on his Facebook page.

After allegations were made against him by 15 students, Sreejith was detained for questioning by Kerala Police. The 40-year-old allegedly flashed his private parts to the girls near a school in Palakkad district on Aug. 27. According to the complainants, a man stopped his Renault Duster car, flashed himself and even tried to take photos of some girls. The accused drove away after the girls shouted at him. However, Sreejith, son of veteran actor TG Ravi, has denied the allegations.
