Last weekend witnessed a different kind of Halloween celebration with surfers with spooky faces hit the waves at the 4th Annual Haunted Heats Halloween surf contest in Santa Monica, California, hosted by ZJ Boarding House.
Surfers took to the waters in their best Hallowwen costumes amid fears of Hurricane Sandy in the eastern part of the United States, which killed 98 people and damaged hundreds of houses and caused unaccounted loss of wealth.

Awards were handed out in categories - Best Grom, Best Costume, Best Surfing and Best Overall. Wonder Woman, Aladdin, Woody the Woodpecker and a Hooters waitress stole the show this year.
"Get ready for some spooky fun with your friends from ZJ Boarding House at our 4th annual 'Haunted Heats' Halloween costume surf contest on Saturday October 27th. Santa Monica has never looked so fearsome with hoards of ghouls, ghosts and goblins crawling along the beach looking for that perfect tube!" wrote ZJ Boarding House before the event.
" Be a part of what has become a phenomenon with all sorts of eerie, creepy, bloody and down right zany costumery and some excellent 'surfmanship' while grappling with uncooperative costumes!"
Halloween is an annual celebration observed in many countries on October 31, the eve of the Western Christian feast of All Hallows or All Saints' Day.
Google also celebrated Halloween with a Google Doodle featuring a haunted mansion with number 13, a creepy creature, a crow on the terrace and carved pumpkins all around.
On clicking the first door of the mansion, a one-eyed octopus, which stands for the letter G of the Google logo, pops out with creepy background music. A pair of eyes, which stand for the letter O, come out of the second door and a veiled ghost, which stands for the letter G, is seen in the third door.
A strange creature, which stands for the letter L, is seen in the window pane, and a smilling creature, which stands for the letter E comes the last door, thus forming the word "Google".
