New Android v4.4.2 KitKat Firmware gets Certified for Sony Xperia Z, ZL, Tablet Z: Report

Sony's upcoming camera-centric Xperia Z1 aka Honami has made numerous appearances online, revealing specifications and design of the smartphone. Now, latest press renders show the device in three colour variants.

GSM Insiders has spotted a new set of press shots of the upcoming Sony Xperia Z1 aka Honami, showing the device in the customary black and white along with a new addition - Purple. The leaked images also showed a metal chassis and shows striking similarities of the smartphone with Sony Xperia Z.

The latest offering from Sony is expected to see the day light in Berlin on 4 September, two days ahead of the annual international electronics trade fair IFA (Internationale Funkausstellung Berlin) conference in Berlin. Sony's arch rival Samsung is also expected to pull the wraps off its much-anticipated Galaxy Note 3 on the same day.

According to previous leaks, the upcoming Sony Xperia i1 smartphone will house a 20.7-megapixel camera with the company's exclusive camera technology Exmor RS image sensor. Besides this, the Honami smartphone is expected to feature IONZ image processor and Sony G lens.

The smartphone is also expected to come with support for video-recording in 4 K (3840x2160p) resolutions, which is twice the full HD (1920x1080p) quality. Other stipulated features include a 5-inch TRILUMINUS display with 1080p resolution, 2.2GHz Qualcomm quad-core Snapdragon 800 CPU with Adreno 330 GPU, 2GB RAM, 16 GB internal storage and Android Jelly Bean 4.2.2 operating system.
