Japanese consumer electronics major, Sony, launched a new quad-core smartphone called Xperia C in India, on Thursday.
Sony Xperia C was globally unveiled at MAE (Mobile Asia Expo) 2013, Shangai, in late June and was released in China. The new Xperia model is now available at Indian online shops, Saholic and Home Shop 18. Other e-retailers like Flipkart and Infibeam are taking pre-orders.
The dual-SIM based Xperia C is sports a 5.0-inch TFT qHD display with 960x540p resolution having pixel density close to 220 ppi (pixels per inch). It ships with Android v4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS.
It packs a 2330 mAh battery, 1GB RAM and4GB Inbuilt memory which can be expanded up to 32GB via microSD card. It is to be noted that this is the first time Sony has used a quad-core chipset made by Taiwanese firm MediaTek. The processor can clock a CPU speed up to 1.2GHz.
The new mid-range smartphone sports an 8.0-megapixel camera on the rear side and a VGA camera on the front. The main camera boasts of Exmor R image sensor, pulsed LED flash support, 4X digital zoom and has the ability to record full HD (1080x1920) video. Connectivity wise, it boasts of Bluetooth v4.0, Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n), micro-USB v2.0 and A-GPS integrated with Google Maps.
Last month, Sony had released its flagship 20.7-megapixel camera phone, Xperia Z1, which comes with G-Lens and Exmor RS image sensor technology.
