Rumours are rife that Song Joong Ki won't be a part of "Descendants of the Sun" Season 2, which is expected to go on air sometime in early 2017. Song Joong Ki was the lead in the first season of the Korean military drama that ended in April, and since then there have been conflicting reports on the actor's involvement in the sequel.

According to a new report, Song Joong Ki has reportedly asked for a year-long break due to constant public scrutiny and lack of any personal time. The worldwide success of "Descendants of the Sun" has made him as well as co-star Song Hye Kyo global phenomena, and there's a lot of interest in their professional as well as personal lives. Rumours linking Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo have resulted in increased interest in the couple.

Meanwhile, another set of reports claims that Season 2 of the drama will not focus on Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo's characters, but that of Jin Goo and Kim Ji-Won. In an interview with Allkpop, the actor said that he would be ecstatic to be a part of "Descendants of the Sun" Season 2. "If there is a season 2, then of course I will take part. I will do it again no matter how successful or not it may be since I received a great gift from it. I have to pay back what I received."

Although he was not being the lead character, Jin Goo said he was amazed at being recognised in places such as France."To be honest, it was uncomfortable at first. Just last year I was able to stand in line at the movies and people just seemed to recognise me, but now they ask for autographs and pictures. I am more used to it now though. Also, it's amazing how people recognise me in other countries. I understand maybe in Asia, but I was really surprised to be recognised in Paris, France. It was cool how people of different races recognise me."
