Police arrest two Maoists in Jharkhand

Gumla, Mar 19 (ANI): Police have arrested two Maoists working for rebel outfit People’s Liberation Front of India (PLFI) in Maoist affected Gumla district of Jharkhand. Acting on a tip off, police arrested the two Maoists from two different locations. Two pistols and three bullets were recovered from the rebels. Tuti said the two were planning to execute a crime, and the residents of the area helped in getting them arrested. Maoists are rebels who try to sink deep roots and form links after decades of neglect. They have killed police and politicians, and targeted government buildings and railway tracks. Mar 19, 2014

Police arrest six militants, recover arms in Punjab

Patiala, Mar 19 (ANI): Police on Tuesday arrested six militants from Babbar Khalsa group in Punjab and recovered weapons from them. Addressing a news conference in Patiala district of Punjab, Senior Superintendent of Police, H.S. Mann, said that four weapons were recovered from the militants. Vladimir Putin calls PM Manmohan Singh to discuss situation in Ukraine

New Delhi, Mar 19 (ANI): Russian President Vladimir Putin called Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and discussed the evolving situation in Ukraine and recent referendum in Crimea, said foreign ministry spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin. Defying Ukrainian protests and Western sanctions, Putin signed a treaty on Tuesday making Crimea part of Russia again but said he did not plan to seize any other regions of Ukraine. Singh, meanwhile, expressed his hopes that all sides would exercise restraint and work together constructively to find political and diplomatic solutions that protect the legitimate interest of all the countries and ensured long term peace and stability in Europe and beyond.
