Protesters demand India to boycott Commonwealth Heads Meet

Tamil Nadu, Nov 6 (ANI): Protesters in Tamil Nadu demanded India not to attend the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Colombo and urged the United Nations to intervene in the matter. According to media reports, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is yet to decide as to whether he would participate in the Commonwealth summit or not, which will be held in Colombo from November 15 to November 17. The protesters in Coimbatore took to the roads, shouting slogans and set an effigy on fire in the middle of the road, blocking the movement of vehicles. Nov 6, 2013

Police arrest Maoist leader in Jharkhand, recover bombs

Jharkhand, Nov 6 (ANI): In two separate incidents in Jharkhand, police recovered 22 bombs and arrested a Maoist leader. Acting on a tip off in Latehar district of Jharkhand, the police managed to defuse the bombs, which were apparently planted to attack the security forces. Meanwhile, in Palamu district of Jharkhand, police nabbed a Maoist leader, who is believed to have been associated with several attacks by the rebels in the region. The arrested individual has been identified as commander Sikander alias Chappanji. The police said they have also seized a gun and some bullets from the arrested leader. Nov 6, 2013
