Rasheed Masood found guilty in MBBS seat allocation case

New Delhi, Sept 20 (ANI): A Special CBI court has held Rajya Sabha member Rasheed Masood guilty in a case of corruption and other offences. Masood, Minister of Health in the VP Singh government between 1990 and 1991, was held guilty of fraudulently nominating undeserving candidates to MBBS seats allotted to Tripura in medical colleges across the country from the central pool. Masood's conviction is the first case after the July 10 Supreme Court judgment that struck down sub-section 4 of Section 8 of Representation of the People, RP Act, under which incumbent MPs and MLAs can avoid disqualification till pendency of the appeal against conviction in a higher court. Maoists kill one policeman of patrolling party in Bihar

Jamui, Sept 20 (ANI): Maoists killed one policeman of a patrolling party, which was on its way to probe the attack by the rebels on an under construction paramilitary force camp in Bihar. The Additional Superintendent of Police, Shafiul Haque, said that the two injured who were admitted to the hospital were out of danger. Victorious Indian wrestling team returns to New Delhi

Tata group plans new air carrier in alliance with Singapore Airlines

New Delhi, Sep 20 (ANI): Singapore Airlines Ltd and Tata group, owner of the Jaguar and Land Rover brands, have entered into a pact to set up a new full-service airline in India and also have sought approval for this tie-up to function from New Delhi. India___s Civil Aviation Minister Ajit Singh clarified this while interacting with the media persons in the national capital. Tata Sons said it will own 51 percent of the carrier and Singapore Airlines will own the remainder.
