Ajmer, Nov 22, (ANI): Dying form of Indian traditional art, Puppetry got a fresh breath of life and entertains children at famed Pushkar fair in northwestern state of Rajasthan. Artists showed their talent of puppetry and brought back the traditional Rajasthan art form to the minds of the people at the fair in Rajasthan s Ajmer town. The fair, kicked off on November 06, is known worldwide to present a brilliant combination of camel rides, various sporting events, Indian handicrafts, and mouth-savouring food. Set against the backdrop of Rajasthan s picturesque landscape, the annual fair offers a lifetime experience for the tourists. The puppet show attracted visitors especially children as it was clubbed with Rajasthani folk music. Tourist officials said the traditional form of Rajasthani theatre showcased at the road shows conducted across the country provides an opportunity to the artisans to make a quick buck. Srinagar, Nov 22 (ANI): The Ministry of Tourism in India s Kashmir organised a folk music festival Shahsrang to revive the Sufi legacy of the Valley. The festival kicked off in the summer capital, Srinagar on the banks of famed Dal Lake, at Sher-i-KashmirInternational Conference Centre (SKICC). Shahsrang celebrates various genres of Kashmiri Sufiyana, folk music and Kashmiri light music. The festival includes grand cultural show presented by renowned Kashmiri artists. Shahsrang focuses on the traditional use of mystic poetry, the songs of yearning and remembrance of history that have fashioned Kashmir s folk music into an essential repository of memory and faith. A number of music lovers were seen enjoying the mystic musical performances by various Kashmiri artistes. The defining feature of the society of Jammu and Kashmir is Sufism. Visitors and Footwear manufacturers thronged the stalls of the fair to take a look at the latest designs and components used in shoe making in various parts of the world. Carnival showcases culture of the northeastern region in New Delhi

New Delhi, Nov 22 (ANI): Under the theme of "connecting people, celebrating life" a two-day-long Northeast carnival festival was held at the Indira Gandhi National Center for Arts in New Delhi. The event not only showcased the culture and traditions of the region but also aimed to create awareness about the region, its prospects and potentials. The festival was organised by Trend MMS, with support from the eight northeastern states, Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of DoNER. As part of the event there were discussions on security, tourism opportunities, employment options and various other issues that affect people of the region. Boxing icon MC Mary Kom from Manipur and star Adil Hussain from Assam attended the event. India, EU to enhance bilateral talks to resolve competition issues

Cyclone Helen makes landfall in coastal Andhra Pradesh

Andhra Pradesh, Nov 22 (ANI): Cyclone Helen, a severe cyclonic storm swirling over Bay of Bengal, crossed southern coast and made landfall near Machilipatnam district in Andhra Pradesh on Friday at around 2:15 pm with wind speeds upto 100-150 kilometres per hour, local authorities said. Disaster teams have been deployed in six districts - Nellore, Prakasam, Krishna, Guntur, East and West Godavari. Helen is a low intensity cyclone in comparison to Cyclone Phailin. Nov 22, 2013

Tehelka case: Goa Police file FIR against Tarun Tejpal

New Delhi, Nov 22 (ANI): The Goa Police on Friday filed an FIR against Tehelka editor in chief Tarun Tejpal, who has been accused by a woman journalist of sexual assault during an event in Goa. According to police an FIR has been filed and the crime branch could send a team of officials to Delhi for further investigation. PIL against Modi rejected by Supreme Court

New Delhi, Nov 22 (ANI): A Public interest litigation (PIL) that has accused Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi of filing incomplete details in his nomination papers for the 2012 assembly polls, has been dismissed by the Supreme Court. Chief Justice P. Sathasivam and Justice Ranjan Gogoi said it is a matter that lies within the jurisdiction of the chief election officer of the state. The PIL was filed by Sunil Sarawgi.
