ScarJo sues French novelist for 50K Euros for 'personal slur'

New Delhi, May 15 (ANI): Scarlett Johansson has sued a French novelist for 50,000 euros in damages for his work of fiction that makes fraudulent claims about her personal life. The fictional work titled 'La Premiere Chose qu'On Regarde' (The First Thing We Look At) is written by Gregoire Delacourt, a leading daily reported.The book tells the story of a French model who looks so similar to the American actor that the book's lead male character thinks it is Johansson herself and has a series of adventures as Johansson until she is eventually found out and, in the end, dies in a car crash.Johansson's lawyer said that Delacourt's novel constituted a violation and fraudulent and illegal exploitation of her name, her reputation and her image and that it contains defamatory claims about her private life. Parliament takes slew of measures to ensure smooth arrival of new lawmakers

New Delhi, May 15 (ANI): The Secretary General of the Lower House P Sreedharan on Thursday said that the Parliament has taken a slew of measures to ensure smooth arrival of newly elected lawmakers in New Delhi. Sreedharan said the government has set up six guide posts at airport and three railway stations in the capital to receive the newly-elected members and facilitate their journey to the parliament or the place of their stay. He added that the posts would be operational from May 16. He also said the chief electoral officers and returning officers in the district have also been informed of details to guide the lawmakers. Students protest against DU professor over his alleged Maoist links

New Delhi, May 15 (ANI): Members of a student organization took to streets in New Delhi on Thursday against a Professor at University of Delhi, G.N. Saibaba, as they demanded his suspension over alleged Maoist links. Professor of English, Saibaba was arrested by police in Maharashtra on May 09. Members of ABVP, a right-wing all-India student organization, also paid tribute to the soldiers who were killed in the Maoist attacks. BSE closes points 90.48 up on May 15

New Delhi, May 15 (ANI): Trading at the Bombay Stock Exchange today closed 90.48 points up to stand at 23,905.60. At the National Stock Exchange the Nifty closed 14.40 points up to stand at 7,123.15.Titan Company Ltd. and Apollo Tyres were among the top gainers of Group A with an increase of 5.99% and 5.64% along with National Aluminium Co.Ltd. and Tata Chemicals Ltd. with an increase of 5.51% and 5.34% respectively, while the top losers of Group A include JandK Bank and Asian Paints with a decrease of 5.45% and 4.89% along with Motherson Sumi and Tata Chemicals with a decrease of 4.81% and 4.58% at the close of the markets. The Auto sector is down 65.84 points at 14,106.36 while the banking sector is up 23.32 points at 16,279.74 and the realty sector is down 16.94 points at 1,515.16.The Indian currency is down 0.59% at Rs 59.33 per dollar. Major exit polls forecast BJP and its allies to sweep to a parliamentary majority in the world's biggest ever election. In Kaushambi district of Uttar Pradesh, BJP supporters conducting special prayers said they will continue till Modi takes over as the Prime Minister if BJP is elected to power. Supporters sat around the religious fire along with an idol of Modi, giving offerings to the fire and chanting hymns. EC bans victory processions in UP, Congress welcomes

New Delhi/ Lucknow, May 15 (ANI): Election Commission on Thursday banned victory processions after the announcement of poll results in UP. Chief Electoral Officer of the state, Umesh Sinha said that the poll panel also tightened security across the state in order to prevent any violence on Friday. High alert has been sounded in 20 districts, including those in the western parts of the State that have been identified as "sensitive" following intelligence reports of threat to law and order.
