Pak border trade suspended after contraband haul in Kashmir

Jammu and Kashmir, Jan 20 (ANI): India suspended border trade with Pakistan after police recovered a truck containing 114 packets of suspected brown sugar in Kashmir. The police recovered the packets from a truck said to be containing bags of almonds which was coming from Pakistan occupied Kashmir. Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of police, Baramulla range, Jaipal Singh addressed media persons and said the Pakistan authorities have refused to take back the trucks, which indicates that they had some knowledge of the contents of these bags. Indian Coast Guard progresses on Tamil fishermen issues

Chennai, Jan 20 (ANI): Inspector General of Indian Coast Guard, Satya Prakash Sharma briefed mediapersons regarding the issues of Tamil fishermen. Sharma said that though the Indian coast guard has arrested Sri Lankan fishermen for illegal fishing in Indian waters on several occasions, they are more often let off after serving their jail term or are exchanged in lieu of the Indian fishermen who are held captive by the Sri Lankan forces. Sharma had earlier stated that a total of 52 Sri Lankan fishermen were handed over and now 151 fishermen remain with India. Jan 20, 2014

Odisha, Jan 20 (ANI): Union Home Affairs Minister Sushilkumar Shinde said that he would soon send an advisory letter to the Chief Ministers of states asking them to form a committee to scrutinise cases of detention of 'minority people'. Kejriwal s dharna on, four metro stations to remain shut
