Dense fog disrupts normal life in Delhi

New Delhi, Jan 30 (ANI): A heavy blanket of fog enveloped the national capital on Thursday morning, hitting air, rail and road services badly. According to the MeT department, the general visibility at the Indira Gandhi International Airport dropped to below 50 metre and because of poor visibility operations of more than dozen of flights were affected. Train services were also affected due to fog. Road traffic was equally chaotic as the motorists tried to navigate through the dense fog. Jan 30, 2014

Rajiv Gandhi wanted anti-Sikh riots to happen: BJP

New Delhi, Jan 30 (ANI): Former president Giani Zail Singh’s press secretary Tarlochan Singh has contradicted Congress vice- president Rahul Gandhi's claim that the Congress government had tried to stop the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. Singh in a statement said that the 1984 riots were in fact “orchestrated and sponsored”. He also said that Rajiv Gandhi who took over as PM following the death of Indira Gandhi, even refused to take calls from the Giani Zail Singh when the latter tried to speak to him to discuss the situation. Speaking over this, BJP vice-president Vinay Katiyar on Thursday said that Rajiv Gandhi wanted that riots should happen. Militants target and kill five non-local bus passengers in Kokrajhar

Assam, Jan 29 (ANI): On the night of January 17, a bus plying from Siliguri to Shillong on NH31 was stopped by cadres of anti-talk faction of NDFB (Songbjit) in Ramfalbil area of Assam's Kokrajhar district. Asha Mirje gives clarification on her rape remark about women

Nagpur, Jan 29 (ANI): Maharashtra State Women Commission member and NCP member Asha Mirje on Wednesday apologized for her comment that women are also to be blamed for rapes. Talking to mediapersons, she clarified that she was only giving her opinion and advice to women. She said that she was of the view that women are always equal to men and that rapes are condemnable but the responsibility to be careful and alert also lies with women themselves. Mirje had asked why was the 23-year-old medical student, who was gang-raped on a moving bus in Delhi in December, 2012, out with her friend late at night.
