Muslim community can benefit from Waqf properties: Manmohan Singh

New Delhi, Jan 29(ANI): Launching the National Waqf Development Corporation Limited, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Wednesday said the properties under the Waqf board can be used for the socio-economic development and benefit of the Muslim community. Dr. Singh said NAWADCO is just one of the several far reaching initiatives that the Ministry of Minority Affairs has taken ever since its inception in the year 2006. Asha Mirje gives clarification on her rape remark about women

Nagpur, Jan 29 (ANI): Maharashtra State Women Commission member and NCP member Asha Mirje on Wednesday apologized for her comment that women are also to be blamed for rapes. Talking to mediapersons, she clarified that she was only giving her opinion and advice to women. She said that she was of the view that women are always equal to men and that rapes are condemnable but the responsibility to be careful and alert also lies with women themselves. Mirje had asked why was the 23-year-old medical student, who was gang-raped on a moving bus in Delhi in December, 2012, out with her friend late at night. President Barack Obama in his State of the Union address spoke of what unites the country, while laying out his strategy for getting around a divided Congress -- a plan that reflects scaled-back legislative ambitions after a tough year. He also made it clear that he would bypass lawmakers to get things done. He spoke of the growing inequality in the country. He pledged to sign an executive order raising the minimum wage to $10.10 an hour for federal contract workers with new contracts. He called on Congress to follow suit by raising the minimum wage for all workers.
