Gaya, Feb 17 (ANI): Residents of insurgency- hit Gaya district in Bihar demanded stringent policies and security measures to keep a check on the expanding network of maoist rebels and their activities in the province. The rebels are rapidly expanding their insurgency and could move from remote rural areas to cities. Equipped with automatic weapons, shoulder rocket launchers, mines and explosives, the Maoists want to cripple economic activity. The rebels are estimated to number 7000 hardcore fighters in nearly a third of India's 630 districts. Feb 17, 2014

President Rule imposed in Delhi

New Delhi, Feb 17 (ANI): Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde informed the Lok Sabha on Monday that President's Rule has been imposed in Delhi following the resignation of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his Council of Ministers. He said the President accepted the resignations and Delhi Assembly is kept under suspended animation. Earlier, Kejriwal resigned as Delhi's chief minister and his resignation was accepted by the Council of Ministers of the Government of the national capital on February 14. Protesters call bifurcation of AP undemocratic

New Delhi, Feb 17 (ANI): Thousands of protestors from Andhra Pradesh on Monday gathered in New Delhi to participate in an anti-Telangana agitation over the proposed bifurcation of the state. New Delhi, Feb 17 (ANI): Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram presented the interim budget for the fiscal year 2014-15 on Monday in Lok Sabha. While presenting the budget Chidambaram said that the fiscal deficit for the current financial year will be contained at 4.6% of GDP well below the red line of 4.8 %. The fiscal deficit, which is the gap between expenditure and revenue, was 4.9% of GDP in the previous financial year.
