CEC announces LS polls schedule, regional parties react

Mumbai/ New Delhi, March 05 (ANI): After the Election Commission on Wednesday announced the schedule for the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls, the regional parties react in both positive as well as negative sense. Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut welcomed the schedule and said that the party is ready for the battle and was waiting for the same. While, CPI (M) leader Sitaram Yechury showed unhappiness with the ‘long schedule’ for the polls and said that it could have been done in lesser time. Samajwadi Party leader Naresh Agarwal said that the polls will bring surprising results for all. Further, Shiromani Akali Dal leader Naresh Gujral showed confidence and said that the party will win 13 seats in Punjab and will wipe out Congress. Mar 5, 2014

Former CEC welcomes 2014 LS polls schedule, says duration made short

Gurgaon, Mar 5 (ANI): After Chief Election Commission on Wednesday announced the schedule for Lok Sabha polls 2014 which will be held on nine dates from April 07 to May 12 and the counting of votes will be held on May 16, former CEC SY Quraishi welcomed the same. Quraishi said that there are many good things taken up in the schedule and that the nine dates decided are made very short-spanned and that the total number of days are also reduced from what actually takes place. UP doctors strike intensifies, political parties call it unfortunate

New Delhi/ Ahmedabad, March 05 (ANI): As doctor’s strike in Uttar Pradesh intensified on Wednesday, political parties condemned the same and called it ‘unfortunate’. Police arrest Maoist in Jharkhand, recover arms and ammunition

Palamu, Mar 5 (ANI): Police on Tuesday arrested a Maoist cadre, Sanjay Bhuiya, in Palamu district of Jharkhand. During the arrest, the police officials also recovered arms and ammunition. Ramesh also added that his team was conducting an anti-Maoist operation in Palamu since past three to four days. The Maoists, also known as Naxals, have killed police and politicians, and targeted government buildings and railway tracks in an insurgency that has killed thousands since the 1960s.
