Bus service resumes across India- Pakistan border

Poonch, Feb 04 (ANI): After two weeks of crisis, Poonch- Rawalkote bus service resumed with 72 people crossing the LoC. The suspension was in retaliation to the arrest of a Pakistan truck driver, who was detained by the Indian security forces in January, while he was allegedly trying to cross the border with 114 packets of brown sugar in Kaman post area of Kashmir. Custodian, Chakan Da Bagh crossing point, Bashir Ahmed, said that the issue should be resolved quickly so that passengers as well as traders of both sides can freely cross the border. New Delhi, Feb 04 (ANI): Congress Vice president Rahul Gandhi, expressed solidarity with students from the northeast in New Delhi protesting against the recent death of a student from their region and promised stringent action against the culprits. The death of a 19-year-old student from Arunachal Pradesh who was beaten up mercilessly at a busy market in New Delhi, has led to outrage among the northeast community against the regular racial discrimination they suffer at the hands of the local people. Nido Taniam was allegedly beaten to death at Lajpat Nagar in south Delhi on January 29 as he got into a brawl with local shopkeepers while reacting to a verbal racial slur and taunts on his hair colour.
