Bhubaneswar, July 19 (ANI): Famed sand artist, Sudarsan Pattnaik, created a sand sculpture at Puri Beach to show that the nation condemns the shooting of an airliner at Ukraine killing all 298 passengers on board. Pattnaik created the art with six tons of sand. The Boeing 777, on a flight from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur, came down in the Donetsk region of Ukraine, near the Russian border, on Thursday (July 17). The plane crashed about 40 km (25 miles) from the border with Russia near the regional capital of Donetsk, an area that is a stronghold of rebels who have been fighting Ukrainian government forces and have brought down military aircraft. Himachal Pradesh steps up security in border areas with J&K after reports of militants___ movement

Shimla, July 19 (ANI): Himachal Pradesh has stepped up security in border areas with Jammu and Kashmir after reports of militants___ movement, said police chief, Sanjay Kumar. Director General of Police (DGP), Kumar, said that the intelligence input was passed on by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) authorities in Jammu and Kashmir. Kumar added that patrolling was intensified on the roads connecting Chamba district with Jammu and Kashmir to prevent any attempt by extremists to infiltrate. Chamba district shares nearly 200 kilometers border with Jammu and Kashmir and it is easy for the militants to infiltrate due to mountainous terrain. Bangalore, July 19 (ANI): As public anger mounts against the rape of a six- year- old girl within school premises, the Police commissioner of Bangalore told mediapersons that the probe is on and the accused will soon be nabbed. Tension erupted as two staff members allegedly raped a six-year-old girl on the premises of a prominent school. He added that no laxity in the case will be tolerated and the department was working systematically to arrest the accused. Parents assembled on the school premises and staged a protest, accusing the school authority of inaction. They alleged that school management was not addressing the issue with utmost urgency. Tea workers in Tripura imparted skill development training to boost production

Tripura, July 19 (ANI): The northeast region is one of the main producers of tea in the country. In order to give a boost to the tea industry in Tripura, a training scheme for skill development of the tea workers was launched recently. Implemented by the National Skill Development Corporation through its various training partners, it aims to provide scientific knowledge to the traditional tea growers as well as to those interested in joining this sector. The one-month long training programme imparts skills on various aspects of growing tea, including the preparation of nurseries, choosing saplings, use of fertilizers and maximizing the yield. Upon completing the training, the trainees will be awarded with a certificate from the government and National Skill Development Corporation, along with a monetary reward. The scheme is a part of Standard Training Assessment and Rewards (STAR) and was launched by the government last year to encourage people to acquire skills for different job roles. Women football academy in Manipur hones the skill of budding players

Manipur, July 19 (ANI): These young girls are sweating out at the Women Football Academy in Kakching to realize their dreams of representing India at the international platform. Established in 2003, the academy is run by Y Satya Singh and has produced several good players since its inception. The academy has a well equipped teaching team including several coaches, physical trainers and doctors. The girls are being given rigorous training under chief coach Ksh. Ibomcha and coaches Khetrimayum Birbal Singh and Moirangthem Nilo Singh. The academy, which has trained over 200 players, including 6 international and 20 national players till now, has some 32 trainees enrolled at present. The academy has won several tournaments including U-15 championship in Kakching, the Nehru Yuva Kendra Football tourbament in Thoubal and the 1st Subroto Mukherjee Cup U-17 championship in 2012. The academy that currently runs at the DSA Kakching playground is looking forward to have its own playing area. Jul 19, 2014
