Students protest after cabinet clears bill for Andhra Pradesh bifurcation

New Delhi, Feb 10 (ANI): Student supporters of a united Andhra Pradesh began a sit-in protest outside the residence of Congress leader from Andhra Pradesh, K Chiranjeevi, in New Delhi on Monday, after the cabinet cleared the bill for the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh. The Cabinet on Friday, during a special meeting, passed the bill for the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh for the creation of Telangana. An agitated student protester, Chaitanya, who poured kerosene on himself for immolation but was pushed aside by others claimed they have been fighting for the past several years and were ready to sacrifice their lives for the cause of a united Andhra. J&K observes 3 day shutdown on death anniversary of Afzal Guru

Srinagar, Feb 10 (ANI): Jammu and Kashmir faced a three day curfew and complete shutdown, to mark the first death anniversaries of Parliament attack convict Muhammad Afzal Guru, who was hanged in Tihar Jail. The shutdown entered its second day on Monday with residents facing troubles in going to their respective offices as the streets wore a deserted look and shops were locked as well. Security personnel were seen manning the streets and keep a tight vigil to foil any attempt of protest in the valley. All mobile internet connections have been blocked except BSNL broadband. Italian marine case: Italian Ambassador & Special Envoy reach SC for trial

New Delhi, Feb 10 (ANI): Italian Ambassador to India, Daniele Mancini and Special Envoy of the Italian government, Staffan De Mistura arrived at the Supreme Court on Monday to attend the hearing of the case involving two Italian marines accused of killing fishermen off the Kerala coast. Rome harshly criticised an Indian decision to try the accused Italian marines under an anti-piracy and anti-terrorism act. Massimiliano Latorre and Salvatore Girone, part of a military security team protecting a cargo ship off the coast of Kerala, say they thought the fishermen were pirates and fired shots to warn them off in February 2012. Bank unions hold 2-day nation-wide strike

New Delhi/ Bhopal, Feb 10 (ANI): Banking services across the country are paralyzed as staff of both public and private sector banks are taking part in the two-day nationwide strike from Monday called by the All India Bank Employees' Association under the aegis of the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) seeking immediate revision of their salaries. Banks including country's largest lender State Bank of India have informed customers in advance about the likely inconvenience they could face due to the strike. As many as 27 public sector banks, 18 private banks, eight foreign banks and 48 Regional Rural Banks across India have joined the strike call by the UBFU. Feb 10, 2014

Baloch people suspect more mass graves in Balochistan

London/ Quetta, Feb 10: These pictures reflect the growing anger and frustration among the Baloch community as they seek justice for genocide in their homeland. Recently, three mass graves were unearthed in Tutak area of Khuzdar district in Balochistan containing over 150 dead bodies, which were decomposed and beyond recognition. Locals believe they are the corpses of the missing Baloch, who were arrested and later unlawfully killed by Pakistani security agencies. Mahdim H Bor, the UK representative of World Baloch Women's Forum suspects that there are more such graves in Balochistan. Feb 10, 2014
